Energy storage technologies information

A range of options.

Following on from the now retired www.energystoragesense.com, this section of the website provides information about the wide range of energy storage technologies that either exist or are being developed for shifting energy supply from one time period to another. The processes involved with the operation of each technology are discussed and we have made an attempt to provide some information about the state-of-the-science in each technology area, however for some technologies the field is moving very quickly. Finally, the main advantages and disadvantages of each of the different energy storage technologies are briefly discussed along with current (or potential) areas of application. We are primarily interested in bulk energy storage, that is the shifting of sufficient electricity through time to be useful for the power network, rather than small-scale energy storage (for example, for use in consumer electronics).
